If you follow our travel and restaurant reviews regularly then you know that Africa’s neighboring islands are teeming with places to visit, and to eat. Mauritius especially is home to a wide variety of restaurants and food joints, but one of the main things they do right is seafood.
Thanks to the availability of a wide range of seafood in the surrounding waters, the sushi bars and restaurants are a must visit. While some of the locals may not appreciate the texture and taste of raw fish, the caterers and chefs know much and more about the Japanese presentation and taste.
Attitude Sushi Bar is one of the local sushi bars that knows how to make a great combination of looks and taste. Found in the capital city of Port Louis on the first floor of one of the commercial centres, this easy-going and well-serviced sushi bar is a great place to experiment with your taste-buds.
There are a few other sushi places in the Northern part of the island, of more high-end and expensive taste, so if that is to your liking be sure to visit the areas of Grand Baie and beyond. Attitude Sushi Bar however is an affordable and centrally located restaurant with amazing service that will leave you wanting more.
While it is good to be adventurous with food, with sushi one has to be a little more careful. Raw fish is no laughing matter, and it has to be fresh and well cut in order to be enjoyed the right way. This is why Mauritius excels in this area, because the island is surrounded by an ocean full of fish, which can be taken kept fresh all the way until serving.
Let us know if you’ve ever tasted sushi in Mauritius, or if you’ve had any other sushi adventures in or outside Africa!
