Kisumu is a glorious, bustling city nestled cozily within the shores of Africa’s largest fresh water lake. Kisumu became a city in 2001 during its centennial celebrations, becoming Kenya’s third largest city after Nairobi and Mombasa.

Kisumu has a rich history as well as riveting culture and heritage. There is plenty to see and do in Kisumu; your trip will be worthwhile no doubt.

If you are planning a visit to Kisumu, then make a point to declutter your itinerary well in advance- at least enough to allow you a breathtaking rendezvous with the impalas of the great lake.

It truly is unforgivable to leave Kisumu without communing with these regal beasts. They are marvelous to watch, and not just that; they are a rare breed. The sitatunga antelope is one such; a creature of incredible genteel and elegance.

The impala sanctuary in Kisumu pays homage to these animals. There is no better place to watch them than at the Impala Eco Lodge within the larger Kisumu Impala Sanctuary.

The Eco Lodge was only just recently opened to nature lovers and conservationists. It is a twenty four-bed establishment, just ten kilometres from the airport. It is easily accessible by road from the town centre. Take our word for it; a visit to the Eco Lodge is well deserving of a spot in your to-do-in-Kisumu-list.
