If you thought that Sushi can only be found in Japan or Oriental countries, you are dead wrong. Tucked in Kigali, Rwanda is Zen where Sushi and other Oriental cuisines are the order of the day.
Sushi consists primarily of rice but the most important ingredient is the fish. There is great variety in what may accompany the fish, and even vegetarian sushi does exist. Sushi is about taste, ingredients and flavor combinations but it is just as much about presentation and aesthetics. Chicamod.com’s Sasha-Lee Marivel visited the restaurant and had this to say about it.
Zen is an open air restaurant run by a Philippino couple and Rwandese locals. The ambience is quiet, peaceful, serene and natural. The main restaurant is mounted on a wooden platform with water running under it. The lighting is almost perfect with chandeliers illuminating the whole restaurant.
The Zen restaurant also boasts of a bar and lounge which are not open air. All these coupled with their delicious appetizing oriental food will ultimately make your visit to this restaurant worthwhile.
