Sitting pretty on the 21st floor of The Golden Jubilee Towers on Ohio Street in Dar es Salaam, is Akemi Restaurant, the first and only revolving restaurant in Tanzania.
Akemi’s menu does not quite offer Tanzanian cuisine but offers a menu with standard Western fair like salads, pasta, fish and steak. The restaurants main attraction is its ability to spin and offer great views of Dar es Salaam.
Akemi hosts various events and promotions including cocktail specials and live music. The Heineken Jazz Friday event is held on every last Friday of the month with entry at only Tzs 4, 000 ($3). On Sundays the restaurant offers a Grand Buffet with a live band and complimentary champagne for just Tzs 40, 000 ($24).
Akemi Restaurant also offers space for conferences at $200/day, with a basic meeting package of refreshments and snacks for $15. The premium package for half a day is $40 per person and includes a welcome drink, lunch buffet, snacks and refreshments. The full day package with the same meals is only $45 per person. Akemi Restaurant offers a discount for groups of more than 15 persons.
Akemi offers loyalty rewards for regular patrons. With a loyalty card, each time you visit Akemi or the Alcove (Akemi’s sister restaurant) you earn points for special offers and discounts at the both restaurants.
