Believe it or not, Chica is from Swahili! We are inspired by Africa and all whose hearts and lives have been touched by the spirit of the continent; in supporting and enhancing this brand, ChicaMod was launched in 2011.
ChicaMod is the first portal of its kind in Africa. We are a sophisticated and scalable mobile/online platform that aims to serve millions of users on a daily basis. We look to not only offer an online product but serve as a global, interactive, mobile and internet platform connecting individuals through a portfolio of music, events, fashion, lifestyle, social media reviews and participation.
Marked by features from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and Burundi we endeavor to fill a void for fashion savvy; information seeking and culturally aware individuals that wish to connect, support and inspire others with the hope of creating discovery, awareness, love and respect.
ChicaMod is for professionals, business, general cultural enthusiasts and music and fashion lovers. We appeal to achievers who are stylish and intellectually curious and individuals who are either interested in, or actively engaged in, celebrating and appreciating culture while wishing to maintain their individuality and relevance to the 21st century. We anticipate that readers can engage while empowering themselves and each other.
As we continue to rapidly expand our user and customer base through our own sales force and through a growing network of prominent alliances with major mobile and online partners, we foresee becoming a community of creativity, knowledge, passion and ideas. We have two main goals: One is to have East Africans and other communities use ChicaMod more than any other source – online or offline – to find information on fashion, music and cuisine from Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi and Tanzania; Secondly for East Africans and other communities to interact with each other for the broadest range of information across, and from, East Africa, the U.S. and elsewhere.
We see ChicaMod as one of Africa’s leading media enterprises and the number one stop for information and entertainment as our team makes frequent updates on beauty, fashion, movies, TV, inspirational stories and social issues in East Africa. Inevitably, we are charting the growth and celebrating success as defined by our own terms - integrating, true learning, understanding, love and respect of the African culture as we harness the power of what our environment/traditions provide to influence great positive change. We hope that, out of love of nurturing and appreciating culture and the environment, we will promote not only Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi and its people and products, but also celebrate the society expressed through the love of music, fashion, art, entertainment, and compelling features.
