For all of you who love travelling there’s good news for you.Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda have launched a single travel visa!

This decision was made during an East Africa Community (EAC) summit meeting in Rwanda this month. The three countries further launched the joint tourist visa in London. The agreement was sealed in London during the World Travel Market this year. Dr.Richard Sezibera who is the EAC Secretary General announced the revival of an East African Passport across member states and the removal of non-tariff trade barriers in the aviation and tourism sectors. The downside of this good news is that although Tanzania is also in the EAC it is not included in this deal. This is because it wants the relevant fee collection infrastructure that links member states put in place first before it joins its counterparts in the lucrative deal. Sadly Burundi which is also part of East Africa is also not included in the visa.

Previously a family of four had to part with up to US $ 1,000 for a visa across all of the five countries in East Africa. Even worse was the fact that apart from Kenya, the other countries charged also for a re-entry visa. The single tourist visa will be used as from January 2014 and it will only cost you US$100.The visa will be purchased at the point of entry of these countries. As for you who only wants to visit Kenya or Uganda the fee will be US$50 and US$30 for Rwanda.

This package will boost trade and cross region safari packages and both local and international tourism.
