Salim Ali worked as model and stylist before establishing himself as fashion designer with his label Mtoko Designs. The designer uses locally made materials like Khanga, Kitenge and Batik to create original African inspired pieces.

Salim has showcased his designs at fashion shows like Swahili Fashion Week and Lady In Red Fashion Show.

He has been nominated for the Best Men's Wear Designer award at the Swahili Fashion Week, and won Best Upcoming Designer Of The Year in the Lady in Red Fashion Show. See below for his eye-catching pieces.
