I have always wanted to visit Zanzibar and Mozambique. Thus, upon discovering that both are actually wonderful honeymoon destinations, I was delighted.
Perhaps you’ve never considered Africa a romantic destination. Africa is where you want to go on Safari, to sightsee and get adventurous. Well, the following 5 spots in East Africa will open your eyes. Personally, I would get married just to honeymoon at any one of the following.
1. Sultan Palace, Zanzibar, Tanzania
Feel like a king and queen at the Sultan Palace located in the area of Dongwe on the eastern coast of Zanzibar island. The Palace, built by underwater designer Robert Merlot, offers style, class and elegance.
Each room at the Sultan Palace has a large private terrace with direct access to the beach, and large windows that offer spectacular views of the ocean. Sigh.
The Sultan boasts 5 Imperial Suites, 4 Ocean Suites and 6 Garden Suites.
Visit The Sultan Palace Hotel for more information.
2. Beho Beho Selous Game Reserve, Tanzania
The Beho Beho is located in the cool highlands of Tanzania. Beho Beho is rugged yet elegent, wild yet serene, rustic yet romantic and, from the looks of it absolutely gorgeous.
At Beho Beho you get to have you not only get a very cozy Banda, you get to see wildlife, bird watch and the option of sleeping under the stars in a Beho Beho Treehouse.
Visit Beho Beho for more information.
3. Elsa Kopje, Kenya
Elsa’s Kopje is a sweet spot for sweetness. Far from the coast, the camp sits atop the Mughwango Hill and overlooks the Meru National Park. Elsa Kopje was the lioness raised by George and Joy Abramson.
The camp is simply designed, earthy, but definitely still luxurious. You and your honey can go on a game drive, fish, take a guided walk, swim or spa.
Elsa’s Kopje holds 12 rooms with the option for a cottage, a honeymoon suite or a private house.
