Wear African and wear it boldly and proudly. Wear Def.i.ni.tion Africa.
Def.i.ni.tion Africa solely sells African made products. The authentic company follows three principles: Does the design speak of Africa? Was it printed in Africa? Was it produced in Africa?
Its Ugandan directors Olga Mugyeni and Nahida Bhegani formed the company in 2010 after seeing the need for authenticity in Ugandan clothing. Starting their line they found trouble with Ugandan manufacturers who not only preferred to sell their quality cotton abroad, but also tripled their sales price to local buyers. Now the duo hopes to raise awareness of African made products and their importance in the marketplace.
Def.i.ni.tion Africa started out selling their products online on Facebook, but they have since opened a shop in Kampala. Ugandan celebrities like Navio, Denis Obua, Duncan Mugabe, Maurice Kirya and Lilian Mbabazi are wearing their brand.
The brand is all about growth and involving the community in their efforts to promote local products. Via social media they welcome art design submissions for their t-shirts, and selected designs are printed on the clothing. In addition to shirts the company prints and sells scarves, hats, shoes, cushions, towels, linens, aprons, bean bags, mugs and more.
