“Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food” said Hypocrites.  Wise people have always known that plant foods can prevent disease and maintain health.  Now, research comes out every day in support of the healing power of plant foods: blueberries, packed with antioxidants, lower your risk of heart disease and cancer; garlic has been shown to lower blood pressure and LDL cholesterol; pomegranate juice helps fight prostate cancer in men; the vitamin C in oranges neutralizes free radicals and prevents cancer.

Snack Time: Chia orange granola, chopped brazil nuts,a dollop of almond cultured yoghurt and chopped strawberries with flax seeds

From this powerful information, a movement has sprung: the vegan raw food movement.  This diet entirely consists of plant foods in their uncooked state, thus each meal is a powerhouse of fiber, antioxidants, vitamins and minerals.  One recent convert is Kobi Kenzo of kobiskitchen.com.  Kobi watched some documentaries on the toxic food industries in developed countries and made some drastic changes.  She threw out all the processed food, unplugged the microwave, and converted her family to raw vegans overnight.  She immediately noticed positive changes in their health.

A favorite in the Kobi household, Veggie Smooth: kale, spinach, flax milk, liquid chlorophyll, raw meal powder, alkaline water, moringa, avocado, frozen bananas and almond butter

Kobi’s blog displays delicious-looking raw recipes for those curious about experimenting with the raw food diet, including raw blueberry tartlets and pumpkin spice frappucino.

Kobi is passionate about her raw food lifestyle, and she wants to guide and motivate others in making this positive change as well.  “We live in a world where the people we count on to protect our food system are sabotaging and selling us products that are slowly killing us” Kobi writes.  We have the power to live healthy, disease-free, active lives, and it begins with our food choices at each meal.
