South Sudan is a unique country, being one of the only nations with only one common language. This aspect, which should bring unity within the country, does little to help the current situation. South Sudan is known to be an area of conflict, and with the internally displaced locals currently roaming the area, the situation is not improving.
Photographer Thomas White captures all of South Sudan behind his lens in all its current beauty and desperation. The raw facial expressions, the sparse yet hopeful environment, and the humanity of each photo perfectly depicts the paradox of hope and loss in this land.
