We believe in frankness. Here is a bit of truth. The Northern part of Africa is not the Southern part of Africa, or the Western, or the Eastern. The upper part of Africa is sort of its own Africa. When it comes to the economic climate in the whole of the continent then the Northern and Southern countries might be mentioned in the same breath or written into the same sentence but otherwise there isn’t really a cultural union or an effort to connect the top half with the bottom. That’s just the truth. There are Northern Africans who don’t care to fraternize with Southern, Western or Eastern Africans and vice versa. But here at Chicamod we’re all about coming together-ness, and a step towards unifying people is opening their minds to discovering the ‘other’.
We’re shedding light on the North African country of Morocco.
Morocco sits pretty atop Africa bordered by Algeria and Mauritania. The country is unique in being the country that would hypothetically connect Africa and Europe via the Straight of Gibraltar that extends to Spain. Morocco is one of the stable countries in North Africa. It is perfectly safe for tourism.
Most tourists to Morocco visit its beach resorts. The country’s coast enjoys the waters of the Atlantic Ocean. Tourists enjoy visiting the country not only for its location and attractions but also for its low travel costs.
Morocco has so much to offer visitors. Gorgeous sand dunes, beautiful coasts, the snow-peaked Atlas Mountains and historic cultural sites are all on the table for sightseeing. Other than for the natural beauty of the country, another major reason to visit Morocco is for an excursion into its ancient history. So much of Morocco dates back centuries and the country holds 9 UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
Archaeological Site of Volubilis – Founded in 3rd century BCE
Historic City of Mekness – Founded in 11th century BCE
Ksar of Ait-Ben-Haddou – Traditional pre-Saharan historic site
Medina of Essaouira – Trading hub founded in 18th century BCE
Medina of Fez – Founded in 9th century and holds world’s oldest university
Medina of Tetouan – Founded in 8th century BCE
Portuguese City of Mazagan (El Jadida) – 16th century BCE renaissance military fort
Rabat – Holds remnants of 17th century BCE Moorish settlements
Apart from the heritage sites there are main points to visit in Morocco. If you’re looking for a beach vacation you should visit Marabout’s Beach, Agadir, Carla Iris, Plage Robinson or Ksar es-Saghir.
If you’re more of a desert and looking for a camel ride across the dunes then you would head for the Sahara Desert and for climbing and treks travel to the Atlas mountains.
If you’re more interested in the culture and history of country then be sure to check out the Moroccan Heritage Sites.
