Kinu is a tech and social enterprise platform that enables the tech savvy Tanzanian to engage in a culture of co-creation and innovation, providing for growth and capacity building. The Kinu Hub encourages the exchange of technology ideas between people who can advance the world of technology. The platform is meant to provide the opportunity for African innovators to build products and services that can reach the rest of the world, and to facilitate the sharing of knowledge, skills and expertise to provide a symbiotic relationship that will benefit everyone.
The Kinu Hub is for tech start up companies, freelancers, mature technology companies, non-profit organizations, SME’s that need technology help, government agencies and entities. The hub encourages the community as a whole to take part in providing solutions to social challenges by encouraging Tanzanians to participate in innovation and the co-creation process.
To ensure that it fulfills its objectives, the Kinu Hub offers high speed internet access, data storage and back up, knowledge center, showcases/ exhibition space, industry meet-ups and events, innovation competitions, hot-desks, ICT Workshops, testing environments, Webinars, a translation center and application testing. Through events such as BarcampDar, Hackathon and Apps4Africa the founders of Kinu have been able to reach Tanzania’s tech community.

The founders are Luca Neghesti (Tanzania’s serial entrepreneur with investments in the logistics, media, tourism and ICT sectors, and founder of Bongo5 Media Group), Jones Mrusha, Catherinerose Baretto, Emmanuel Feruzi, Taha Jiwaji (entrepreneur and founder of Bongo Live!), and Johnpaul Barretto (political science graduate working for the Democratic Party of California on Campaigns for the State Senator).
