Dreams really do come true. For eight years musician Maurice Kirya had been dreaming and planning about opening a coffee shop. On November 2nd his dream finally came true and his coffee shop The Sound Cup was finally opened.
The Sound Cup is located in Kampala, Uganda on Yusuf Lule Road in Garden City Complex on the third floor .The Sound Cup is not only a mere coffee shop it’s also a place for you to listen to music and enjoy good food too. The singer/songwriter is also contemplating on buying skating shoes to serve his customers better as he also doubles up as a waiter in the coffee shop. Maurice is hopping his fans will get a chance of enjoying it in a musical and artistic ambience. “My fans can now enjoy coffee and sound in a place they call home,” said Maurice in the Sound Cup’s twitter account.
Maurice Kirya has been in the music industry for the past 10 years. His style of music is called “Mwooyo” or soul. The artiste released his debut album in 2009 which was an instant success and it sold hugely both in Uganda and internationally. The album won the talented singer/songwriter the 2010 RFI Discoveries award beating over 500 artistes across Africa. Maurice Kirya has also travelled in over 35 countries and 40 cities across the world to perform his music.
