Who doesn’t love jewelry? Tanzania boasts many different kinds of precious gemstones, some of which are rare and can only be found in this beautiful East African country.
At the forefront of Tanzanian gemstones is the Tanzanite, named by Tiffany & Co. after the country in which it was unearthed in the Mererani Hills back in 1967.
Also from the Mererani Hills is Diopside on Graphite, a green mountain mineral.
The Tanzania Spessartite is an orange stone found in Loliondo, Tanzania.
The Tanzanian Hematite “Confetti” Sunstone.
The Ruby Zoisite (Anyolite) exhibits two hues, bright Ruby and the green Zoisite.
There is the Yellow Green Tanzanian Sapphire. Most of Tanzania’s sapphires come from the Songea region.
And then there is the green opal found at Hanety Hill, the Prase Opal.
Those are just a few of Tanzania’s precious stones.
